The first step in our process leading to the formation of Curo Medicus, an International Union of Patients, is to take strong legal action against established, self protective and self policing members of the American medical establishment. Included in this effort will be to hold Bumrungrad responsible for its actions as it relates to the death of my son...but not from the standpoint of negligence or medical malpractice, but as a participant in what essentially amounts to a "protection" scheme.

The aim of Curo Medicus, our Union, is to consolidate the various patient advocacy groups in this country and internationally into a cohesive voice with national and international presence, collective strength, lobbying power and financial clout in order to help deliver better and safer healthcare.

To help finance this litigation, which will be handled by a specialized law firm in Washington D.C. we are asking for contributions from those who believe, as we do, that the time for a radical change has come to improve healthcare, re-distribute the distorted hoarding of enormous profits being enjoyed by a few while the public suffers the consequences of higher premiums, no insurance, under insurance, doctor visits of under 5 minutes, packed emergency rooms, epidemic hospital born infections, medication errors, insane pharmaceutical costs, weeks of waiting time to secure appointments, malpractice premiums for physicians which are forcing good doctors out of medicine and a crisis of nursing shortages....and this sad list goes on.

While all of this is happening, enormous sums of money are being concentrated into the hands of a very few, very powerful interests including hospital corporations whose executives are paid in the billions...who pay fines for fraud, promise to be good boys and girls and then immediately return until their again caught with their hand in the cookie jar! The fines are paid, not as a sign of contrition, but as a cost of doing business.

In short, any sense of morality or ethics takes a back seat to greed. But this kind of greed has a consequence jeopardizing the lives and safety of countless millions. Yet, despite the marketing slick, these special interests proceed with impunity and without conscience. Now this schema is being extended internationally under the guise of Medical Tourism.

We Are All Patients! At one time or another...you, your family members, loved ones, friends....we are ALL Patients. There is nothing abstract about this. We are talking about life and death...and despite the fact that the US spends more than any other country on earth, we are 37th in terms of quality of care world wide!

The death of one person, my son, led me to ask, WHY? And what I have found is a broken system which needs to be fixed.
